MEET EDDIE

March 12, 2005 Eddie completely shattered both of his legs from the knees down in a motocross accident. Multiple surgeries later and luckily avoiding amputation he made his way back home. Suddenly, Eddie found that he now required specialized accommodations essential to his daily living. How does he wheel up the tri-level walkway? How will he make it over the front door threshold? How does he make it down the narrow hall to his bedroom? How will he shower? These are questions you don’t think about on a normal basis unless faced with this type of adversity. Being a Design, Build Contractor for 10 plus years at this point, he was determined to reconstruct his non-universal living space into a serene home environment adding functionality and hope. With the assistance of family and friends he was able to bring this vision to fruition; by individualizing each of his medical necessities and incorporating sleek, innovative, aesthetically pleasing and functional products into a design that brought the medical equipment world to a new level. After his life changing experiences Eddie has been called upon time after time to design-build-renovate for others who are physically challenged and/or wheelchair bound, before long he has gained an esteemed reputation for his craft.

“Bestowing independence and hope to the lives of individuals who find themselves in circumstances of challenged mobility has been my passion since my accident, I hope to bring dignity to the forefront of others who are on a similar journey” ~ Eddie Leverett Jr.

MEET JULIE

Julie has been in the Hospitality industry for most of her career, in 2004 she accepted a position at Simon Kitchen & Bar located at Hard Rock Hotel, Las Vegas with renowned Chef Kerry Simon. For ten years her career progressed moving into a management role within the company as it grew and became Simon Restaurant & Lounge located at Palms Place. As the years passed Julie not only looked to Kerry as a boss, but a trusted mentor and dear friend. While care giving was not Julie’s “job” she found herself called upon by Chef Kerry when his disease Multiple System Atrophy advanced to the point of requiring extra assistance. He needed a compassionate strong willed organized and quick-to-act individual to not only mend the household structure but also revamp his healthcare necessities and daily regiment. Without blinking an eye Julie left her management position with Simon Hospitality and dove straight into the role of Caregiver. This fast track approach was quite a whirlwind but Julie was able to gain unsurpassable and fundamental insight through the process. Understanding the emotional, physical and challenging insecurities people with disabilities encounter daily provides Julie with the knowledge and compassion paramount to guiding those struggling with physical limitations and/or confinement to a wheelchair. Julie is now not only an advocate for the cause but confidently counsels individuals in positive planning toward a future of RE-invented independence.
